Product Design: Developer Portal
Addicting Games
Project Overview
This project stemmed from the feedback of developers and a lack of quality submissions that led to long QA times for submitted games to the Addicting Games website. Additionally the finalized product was to be used for further monetization with other game platforms within our network.
Project Timeline
Jul 2023 - Oct 2023
My role
Led the full product design of a new onboarding method to facilitate developer’s game management and new developer onboarding.
Goals
Process Streamlining
Create a more automated self serving solution for developers to submit new games
Game Management
Create a management dashboard for developers that already have existing games on addictinggames.com
Reduction in QA times
Alleviate long QA times and roadblocks or confusion in the upload process
User Research + Data Analysis
Developers currently working with Addicting Games and new developers have reached out with requests on how to add new games, submit updates or remove games entirely.
This process was originally entirely manual and sometimes took months to complete.
The need for a new submission process to intake games and potentially allow other websites to use them through our network was very clearly needed.
Solution
Streamlining and enhancing the developer experience was our main goal with this project. We aimed to create a developer portal that made the onboarding process simpler across all departments and give the developers more control with shortened QA times for faster game intake. Through the implementation of profile creation features, step by step upload process, automated testing environment and guideline checks, we were able to aliviate a large bottleneck within our onboarding process. Additionally, this portal helped developers with an already uploaded game, by allowing them to update and edit details or submit new game builds.
Once this solution was implemented support tickets for developers were cut down by nearly 40% over the course of two months and game submissions increased by 27%, all completely done by developers with no team intervention needed.
Design System
A full design system was made with component sets to encompass all screens and their variations.
